External Camera Integration with Simulator

Hello All,

In our application we have the camera invoked to capture images. We have always tested this functionality by using the "Simulate-> Camera Image.." option provided in the simulator. However my customer has a built -in camera on his laptop an when he runs our application on the simulator the view finder of the simulator uses the laptop's camera and he is able to capture image using the laptop's camera, though he runs into some exceptions after this. Is this really possible using the simulator. I also read another thread which talks about this :

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/WebCam-connected-with-simulator-camera/m-p/5...

but there is no official confirmation with this and i was not able to simulate the same either. Could someone kindly help me with this.

FYI: Tried this on Simulator 9000 (4.6 OS) and 9700 (5.0 OS).

Thanking you,

Regards,

Re: External Camera Integration with Simulator

Hello All,

I could get this working. Sorry about the no official confimation the document in the link below does talk about this:

http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/15497/BlackBerry_Smartphone_Simulator-Developm...

One thing i noticed was, if the external camera is already launched the simulator camera's view finder does not detect the extenal camera. The only way i could get it working was to connect the external camera and then launch the camera through the simulator and there you go it works!!! :-)

Thanking you,

Regards,
