Re: GUI Builder

Thanks!

I read that I can also use the J2ME classes with the J2ME GUI builder. Do you recommend it?

Re: GUI Builder

So, that press release last year said that the GUI Builder was to be released in "mid-2010".  It is now July, and still no GUI Builder.  Has anyone heard anything new about this?  I'm starting a new Blackberry project for my employer and I'm not going to waste my time building all of the UI elements programatically if I don't have to.  Any further updates would be awesome! :-)

Re: GUI Builder

welcome to the support forums jupchris10.

these are user-to-user forums, and the few people knowing about rim internals (not me) are not allowed to talk about it.

announcements from last year should be taken with a grain of salt. usually rim does not promote vapors, but they still take their time to finish things.

[ Edited ]

One of RIM's developers came on at some point and said that they are aiming for the end of July... or was it August, let me try and find the article.

EDIT: Ok it doesn't say a date but @tneil says "by the end of summer":

Re: GUI Builder

I would agree with Simon.  The other thing that has been promised for a while that I'm hoping that they also announce is that BIS-B access is available to all developers.....

Re: GUI Builder

That's a good guess, but I would think they would want to release it sooner than DevCon 2010.  I mean, if I told a bunch of people at DevCon 2009 that we were releasing a GUI Builder in mid 2010, and I unveiled it a full year later at DevCon 2010, I would kinda feel like a jackass for missing the mark by 3 months.  Who knows though.  I think I'm just gonna work on the business logic of my app until the builder comes out.
