Get application log file from a desktop application

Is there a way to create a program to retreive an application log file?

Rigth now our BB app log info (plain old logging) in a file "file:///store/home/user/logs/myapp.log". The only way we have right now to retreive the file is ask client to do it with their Desktop Manager. This sound simple but you would be suprise how asking such a thing to some individual probably equal asking them to make a trip on the moon Smiley Wink

Anyway for diagnostic purpose I've already create a simple desktop app that wrap JavaLoader in order to extract the BB internal log. So now I'd like to add the feature to also get our application log file. Is there an API to do it?

Re: Get application log file from a desktop application

How about just picking up the log file and emailing it from the device?

You could give the user a menu item, "send diagnostic info". You could create a new Message object, attach the log file, and either invoke the Messages application or just send it using Transport.
