Hide network notification popup for system SMS

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I am developing an application which receives occasional notifications from a remote server via SMS. In order to prevent those notifications from showing up in the inbox I am following the steps described in http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800451/800563/How_To_... for sending system SMS.

The good thing is that the notification SMS are no longer stored in the inbox. The bad thing, however, is that the user receives a flash sms (titled network notification) for every notification SMS received from the remote server:

Is there any way to hide/avoid those network notification popups as they will annoy the hell out of our users.

Thanks,
Sy

P.S: Tested on Device: BlackBerry 9700, OS: 5.0.0.734, JDE: Java Plug-in for Eclipse V 1.3.0

Re: Hide network notification popup for system SMS

The format of your SMS message appears to be incorrect.

A class 0 SMS message will display the prompt you see and not show up in the Inbox.

A type 0 SMS message will not display any prompt and not show up in the Inbox.

The knowledge base article does show the format for a type 0 SMS message.

Re: Hide network notification popup for system SMS

Sohm, there's a problem of this method that set SMS message type to 0, I have to set 0 immediately to make it become effective, otherwise, it was useless, how can I solve this issue?

This has to be done by the application sending the message. You can't do it for incoming messages.
