How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

Problem:

How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

Following procedure:

http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/12002/Debug_an_app_on_BB_device_656366_11.jsp

Error:

An internal error occurred during: "Launching WMMS_ACC_video_test0".
java.lang.NullPointerException

I could not find other methods to debug.

If anyone know how to do it, please tell me.

Thank your attention.

Re: How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

Are you able to debug the same application in the simulator?  Does the application run when installed on the BlackBerry Smartphone? Did you use an appropriate version of the BlackBerry JDE and BlackBerry Java SDK?

Re: How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

My application is related to accelerometer, so simulator cannot simulate the bug issue.

So, I still try to find a way to debug the application.

BlackBerry 9900 with os 7.0.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/developer-forum/107455-debugging-live-device.html

Solution:

start IDE
connect your device to PC via USB
compile your application and load on device
in JDE - Debug -- Attach to --Handheld
ignore all dialogs
make breakpoint
start your application on device

Re: How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

OK,

I have related question:

How to delete the app from the device after it was installed through Eclipse (Load Project on Device) as part of debugging under Eclipse?

I mean, it becomes "undeletable"!?

you might try to unplug battery and restart again.

And then, delete it.

You can delete it similar to any other application.  Highlight its icon, click the menu key and choose Delete.  Or you can go through Options -> Application Management and delete it from there.

Re: How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

When I wrote 'undeleteable' I meant that none of the standard methods worked.

When hightlighted menu does not contain Delete entry.

And in Application Management the only available choice is Edit Permisions.

Re: How to debug BlackBerry java application on Eclipse with a BlackBerry Smartphone?

That's strange.  Try this command (with your BlackBerry Smartphone connected over USB):

javaloader -u erase -f yourApp.cod

BTW. BB Desktop (6.1.0 B38) grayed it out and marked as Required!
