I have a screen with some text and a bitmapfield.On clicking the bitmapfield,i am launching a popupscreeen.I want that if i again click on the bitmapfield the popupscreen shud dismiss.But when i click on the bitmapfield the control is not going inside the onclick of bitmapfield at all

Understood, however because the PopupScreen is 'on top', it will get all the UI Controls (like click, ESC etc), so your BitmapField will never see the clicks.
You will need to find another way to dismiss it.
