I need to edit the jad file to add some custom application descriptors that are used by j2meunit. It seems there is no way to do it in the Eclipse IDE for BlackBerry projects. I can edit the jad file directly using notepad. However, once the project is built, the jad file gets overwritten.

I've never used ecclipse but rather I use awk for editing my jad file. If you can specifiy arbitrary tools,
you may want to consider this or just write your own bash script.

I've never used ecclipse but from what i can tell it can invoke arbitrary tools from an xml file.
As part of my build scripts, I use awk to modify the jad file for things like absolute urls and various
names. At least for now, why can't you add an awk step to your build process? I assume by edit
you mean change something based on the build settings, presumably this is just text substitution.

your one click can invoke a jar signer or ftp but it can't invoke awk?
my up-arrow cr can rebuild too
I have to admit one think I miss is the pop ups offering method signature reminders.
Sometimes this does help but usually not a big problem.
With java, I rarely even benefit from the emulator as I don't have many wierd modes to
