How to fix BlackBerry JDE screen artifacts

by Retired ‎02-16-2010 11:38 AM - edited ‎02-17-2010 12:56 PM (1,252 Views)

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Java® Development Environment (BlackBerry JDE)

The BlackBerry JDE displays artifacts over text areas of the integrated development environment (IDE). These artifacts can make areas of the screen appear smudged or appear that lines have been drawn on top of certain areas.

These artifacts are caused by issues between the Java® technology and some video card drivers. This issue can also affect other Java applications running on the computer.

Open the ide.bat file in a text editor and add -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true to the command line listed in the file. This file is located in the bin directory of the BlackBerry JDE installation directory. The following shows a sample command line:

start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmx256M -DRIM_RUNTIME=..\lib -DRIM_BIN=..\bin -jar IDE.jar
