Re: How to get Installed Applications from device??

you have to work with these information, the only other method is for visibly running apps in http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/7.1.0api/net/rim/device/api/system/ApplicationManager.html...

Re: How to get Installed Applications from device??

Retrieve information about an installed module. Once you have the module's handle, you can get back a variety of information about the module:

try {
// retrieve specific information about a module
String name = CodeModuleManager.getModuleName( handle );
String vendor = CodeModuleManager.getModuleVendor( handle );
String description = CodeModuleManager.getModuleDescription( handle );
int version = CodeModuleManager.getModuleVersion( handle );
int size = CodeModuleManager.getModuleCodeSize( handle );
int timestamp = CodeModuleManager.getModuleTimestamp( handle );
} catch( IllegalArgumentException iae ) {
// deal with an invalid module handle
}

taken from the API docs http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/7.1.0api/net/rim/device/api/system/CodeModuleManager.html

well, the name should be sufficient, then.

these are the APIs available.

Re: How to get Installed Applications from device??

But CodeModuleManager.getModuleHandles() gives the inner packages too...  It gives me 554 module names on my bb device...

Re: How to get Installed Applications from device??

maybe working with codemodulegroups is better, see
http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/7.1.0api/net/rim/device/api/system/CodeModuleGroupManager....
