Re: How to install Blackberry API and COD file over the air (uploaded files)

I guess you are trying to download the program OTA?

If so, you must also deploy the .JAD file, and point the browser to this file. You also have to set the mime type on your server correctly.

See the RIM manaul on deploying applicaitons:

Check your web-server documentation. It is about your web-server software setup.

Re: How to install Blackberry API and COD file over the air (uploaded files)

There is nothing to set on your device.

Alx is for installation from desktop computer via Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Place JAD file along with cod files on the server and set proper MIME type for each file.

Please note if your cod file has sibling cod files inside you have to do the following.

Rename your one cod file to zip file and unzip it. Now delete the zip file and place all unzipped cod files along with jad file to the server.

Re: How to install Blackberry API and COD file over the air (uploaded files)

I downloaded some cod, jar and jad files to my desktop from getjar.com, but they are missing alx files. Is there a way to do load them without having to create an alx file for each one?

Re: How to install Blackberry API and COD file over the air (uploaded files)

You can load using the jad.  Two options:

a) javaloader

b) Copy the cods and jad to your SD Card, then use FIle Explorer to browse to the jad.

Or you can easily create an alx.  Generate one for an application you know about, and have a look at the XML, you should be able to figure out what you need to change.
