How to use xml parsing in blackberry devices?

Hi friends,

I want to use xml parsers for  blackberry devices.

I have written xml parsing application using j2me api's:

javax.microedition.xml.*;

org.xml.*;

Its working fine on  blacberryemulator.

When  I  install  the  same  on  real  blackberry  device  (8830),  its  givingerrors like

"This application requires the following moduleswhich are not installed:

net_rim_xml_org,

net_rim_jaxrpc.

What should I do?

Can any one please help me?

Thanks,

Dillirao.

Re: How to use xml parsing in blackberry devices?

You are probably running a lower version of OS on the real device.

If you compile with 4.3, for example, you can only run on device with 4.3 or higher OS, a 4.2 device will give an error like this.

@RexDoug - I build against 4.6 and it runs just fine on 4.5 devices. The key is to only use APIs that are supported in the older version.

I agree with RexDoug - see also this thread:

davidmccormack.  While what you suggest may work in some cases, I would not recommend it.  At one fairly recent level (think it was 4.2) Rim changed the stucture of the cod file so that loading a 4.2 (assuming it was 4.2) cod onto a 4.1 OS could create a brick.

Re: How to use xml parsing in blackberry devices?

Thanks peter_strange - I didn't realise that. Would it be wise then for a BB to check what version of the o/s is running and bail out if it's too old or is that typically seen as a user responsibility?

(Btw, apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread...)
