Install application on Blackberry without Desktop Manager

Hi

I have the .alx and .cod files using which i install my app on the blackberry through Blackberry desktop manager.

The trouble is that if i give these files to someone else, then they have to first download BB desktop manager at their end and only then they are able to install the app. It is not a very user friendly solution.

I would like to know if there is a much simpler and straight forward way of doing this without using the BB Desktop manager. There has to be one.

Also currently, i have the .alx and .cod files of my application and also .cod files of ksoap which i am using to access a webservice. Is there any way i can bundle of these into a single file.

Basically i want to simplify the installation process so that it can be done by anyone who doesnt necessarily have a technical background.

Thanks!

Saket

Re: Install application on Blackberry without Desktop Manager

Okay i found one workaround for now.

i take the .cod file and unzip it. This gives me the internal files which maybe of the same name. I take these files and the .jad file of the app and place them on the device.

The files can be placed on the device by setting the BB's Mass Storage Support feature to "On"

(Goto Options-> Memory-> Mass Storage Support - Set to On), then connect the device to the pc via USB and simply copy the files from the source location and place them at desired location (Media Files, documents etc) in the Blackberry driver that you can see in the My Computer screen.

Once the files are placed here just disconnect your device and goto this location with the help of the "Explore" option in the Media folder. Goto the file location and then run the .jad files to install the app......

I am still looking out for better solutions. If anyone finds something then please let me know.

Thanks,

Saket

hi

remove all other tag from jad file

like your.cod-1 or your-sha1.cod etc except YOURPROJECTNAME.cod

then put both file on your devide and install jad file.

remember remove also extra midlet tag with extra counter like -1 or -2 etc.

see it's original file without modification
