If you are referring to the MainScreen class, please see this link.

How To - Use a background image in application screens

If you are referring to the home screen of the BlackBerry, this can be done using the HomeScreen.setBackgroundImage method that was added in version 4.7.0 of the BlackBerry API set (requires BlackBerry handheld software version 4.7.0 or higher).

Re: Is it possible to set wallpaper for third party application MainScreen?

sorry for the dumb question.

But is there any device sporting a software version 4.7.0? Where can I see which models have which versions?

Thank you

Re: Is it possible to set wallpaper for third party application MainScreen?

answering my own question, the only device that supports this, is Blackberry Storm.

Why not backport this kind of functionality to previous versions? Seems something pretty basic.
