Re: New to Blackberry Development

The only way to develop an application in Java for Playbook is to develop an Android application.

A good starting point for platform selection is this site.

So java can be used only for app development in blackberry phones and not for tablet..?

Re: New to Blackberry Development

Hi Thanks for your reply,

For me the requirement is simple, a form which takes the customer details and when submitted calls a web service to save it to database.. I was told to build an application for playbook to meet the abve requirement... Which way is the best way for me to proceed.?

I am a Java/JEE developer...

Re: New to Blackberry Development

I have the most experiece in Native SDK and BlackBerry Java. So, I would prefer using the Native SDK. But it could be a lot easier with HTML5 if it supports Web Services.

Re: New to Blackberry Development

I agree with Oliver.  Like him, my experience is with Java on BBOS and Native on BB10, but your application sounds like it could be written in HTML 5 and Javascript and that would work on PlayBook, BB10 and BBOS so is the most flexible approach.

In terms of learning curve, I suspect this would be the quickest for you to learn out of all the options too, including Android, even though you already know Java.

Good luck.
