Perform programmed Device Restart from Java

Hello,

I would like to execute a Programmed device (BB) restart with the JAVA API.

Does anyone know the API for this?

Why do you need that?

As far as I know there is no such documented api.

Re: Perform programmed Device Restart from Java

We implemented a forced update of our sorftware if there is an Update useres should use.

So far we ask users to manualy restart the server after the software update.

With a lot of users in large installations we had the problem that they have been unable to restart the device manualy.

So we want to ask the user if he want to perform the restart and then initiate this from our program.

Check this link

I think it is very simple rule to restart your blackberry.

If you plan to make this programatically anyway - try to emulate these keys pressed via event injector.

Re: Perform programmed Device Restart from Java

Does that key sequence the othery guy suggested actually work? I just got an installer to run fine but the class names

conflct with the target code so I'm forced to delete and restart. But, inability to do it programatically makes it confusing

to the user. I couldn't get the keys he suggested to work from the keyboard.

Re: Perform programmed Device Restart from Java

What happened to his link? LOL.

I'm not so disturbed it is missing but there was no indication the post was edited and if it contained a virus I'd like

to know as I did hit it. LOL.

In any case, is there a key sequence that would work? I thought my module loader would work once I fixed the

name conflict, and indeed it is fine as long as there are no prior installs but I can't rely on an absence of

old versions to make robust product.

Thanks.
