Question about PINs and securing payware

In the Developer docs, I read this:

Note: ESNs are only present on BlackBerry smartphones that operate on the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network.

And this seems to say that not all BB's have a PIN.  Is this true?  If so, which carriers/networks do not support the needed CDMA and thus have no PINs?  Also, if a BB has no PIN, then how are people implementing "registration" on such devices?  In other words, in general one "locks" the software to the users PIN (etc.), but without a PIN, what can we use?

Re: Question about PINs and securing payware

On GSM phones you can also use the IMEI which is unique, and should only be issued to one phone.

Re: Question about PINs and securing payware

The ESN is not a BlackBerry PIN.  Every BlackBerry handheld has a unique PIN.  You can get it by calling DeviceInfo.getDeviceId().

Re: Question about PINs and securing payware

Thanks Mark.  I actually figure this out an hour later, and wrote the code I needed, but just hadn't had time to post back my "solution".
