Reading video files

Want to write an app that can read a 3GP file saved by the video camera, decode it frame by frame, and create a new video file in other formats.

Question #1: Any API help?

There's no API that will facilitate that without having to decode every last byte of the file myself, is there?  A Player can just play a file to the screen, but won't let you read the frames out of the file into bitmaps for individual processing?  Or is there some way to do that using built-in API's?

Question #2: 3GP File Format

The MPEG4 specs I can find, but I can't find what I'm looking for on that 3GPP Website.  Does someone know where to find the 3GP video file format specification used by BlackBerry?

Question #3Future Video File Formats used by BlackBerry

Is BlackBerry sticking with the 3GP format (3GPP specification), for both GSM and CDMA, or will it be switching to the 3G2 format (3GPP2 specification)?  Might as well know in advance if I'll have to write this app to read both formats.

Thank you
