Retrieving installed applications on device

Hi,

I'm looking to develop an application and need to find a way of retrieving a list of installed applications on the device. I've searched these forums and Google and haven't found any sort of answer.

If someone can point me in the correct direction it would be appreciated Smiley Happy

Thanks all,

Re: Retrieving installed applications on device

int[] handles = CodeModuleManager.getModuleHandles();
for(int i =0; i < handles.length; i++)
{
      ApplicationDescriptor[] descriptors = CodeModuleManager.
        getApplicationDescriptors(handles[i]);
      for(int j =0; j < descriptors.length; j++)
      {
         System.out.println(descriptors[j].getName();
      }

}

Note that this will get everything installed on the device so you'll see modules like "net_rim_bb_clock" which the user may not care about.

Re: Retrieving installed applications on device

Hi,

I would like to know if we can filter or just retrieve the application list as "Option -> Advanced -> Application".

I'm trying to do a"Search" on Applications on the phone and I want to display only apllications wich the user care about.

Regards,
