Running Bluetooth Demo program

Hi everyone, I am attempting to run the Bluetooth demo program and communicate with my computer through a virtual serial port.  The demo comes with a number of projects and the documentation is found at

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/deliverables/6099/BlackBerry_Java_Development_Environment-US.pdf

On page 9, "Click the BluetoothDemo icon." Which project is BluetoothDemo?  I've loaded a BluetoothSample and a Bluetooth Serial Port Demo project from these files onto my Blackberry but neither of them work.  When I run the first program, the Blackberry doesn't connect to the Bluetooth device (indicated by the Bluetooth device's blinking LED), but I can type into the window and characters show up (on the Blackberry, not on the computer); when I run the second, a connection is made (indicated by the solid LED) but no characters can be typed into the window on the Blackberry.

Which program is the correct one to demo Bluetooth communication?  Or is it another one or all of them?  I'm also having trouble with the virtual serial port, because neither Realterm nor Hyperterminal allow me to enter characters into the terminal for COM1, where my virtual serial port is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Running Bluetooth Demo program

The BluetoothSample was updated and renamed to BluetoothDemo in version 4.5.0 of the BlackBerry JDE.  I recommend using the sample from the 4.5.0+ JDE so that the steps in the document match up with the sample.

Note that the application should be listening for connections before you pair with your PC to ensure that the sample is listed in the available services that are exchanged during the pairing.

You can use the port of your choice on the PC side.  You'll need to configure the virtual COM port number in the Bluetooth options within Windows.

Re: Running Bluetooth Demo program

Bluetooth connection between BB device and laptop by bluetoothdemo (Device-initiated way)

1.Install BluetoothDemo.cod on BB device.
2.Start BluetoothDemo, listen for connection.
3.Paring BB device with laptop on Bluetooth Connections menu on BB side.
4.Make sure outcoming port shows Hi there.
5.Start hypertrm.exe with outcoming port, which shows Hi there.
4.Send text message testing from both side. Successful.

Good luck.
