RuntimeException (Could not start internal application) in invoking prepopulated PIN message application

Many of our clients  (BB OS7 mostly) experience problems while trying to compose a prepopulated PIN message:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not start internal application

Here is the code we use:

	public static void composePIN(String subject, String body){
		String address="";
		Invoke.invokeApplication(Invoke.APP_TYPE_MESSAGES, new MessageArguments( MessageArguments.ARG_NEW_PIN, address, subject, body));
	}

We make sure the following permissions are granted before calling the method above:

PERMISSION_CROSS_APPLICATION_COMMUNICATION,
PERMISSION_MEDIA,
PERMISSION_DEVICE_SETTINGS,

PERMISSION_MAIL

However we've never had any problems with composing E-mail messages using a similar code:

	public static void composeEmail(String subject, Object body) {
		Address toAdd = new Address("", "");
		Message message = new Message();
		message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, toAdd);
		message.setSubject(subject);
		message.setContent(body);
		Invoke.invokeApplication(Invoke.APP_TYPE_MESSAGES, new MessageArguments(message));
	}

Can someone help please?

Re: RuntimeException (Could not start internal application) in invoking prepopulated PIN message application

I wasn't able to reproduce this on a BlackBerry 9810.  Which BlackBerry Smartphone model and BlackBerry handheld software version are you testing on?  You can find this under Options, About on the BlackBerry Smartphone.

Does the user have an email address configured on their device?

Re: RuntimeException (Could not start internal application) in invoking prepopulated PIN message application

Here are some of the models we got problem reports from:

9790 OS7.0.0.528
9380 OS7.0.0.557

9380 OS7.0.0.545
9790 OS7.0.0.611
9360 OS7.0.0.530

9780 OS6.0.0.706

9800 OS6.0.0.723
9800 OS6.0.0.706

All the users who report the problem have an email address configured, because the reports are sent by e-mail from their devices

I wasn't able to reproduce this.  Can you obtain an event log capture after this exception?  Use the following command to extract the event log:

javaloader -u eventlog > log.txt
