SecurityException When Connecting To Socket

[ Edited ]

I am receiving a SecurityExut ception Permission denied error when trying to open a SocketConnection.  This works with no problems on the simulator; it's only when I run the program on the device that I have problems.  All of the "Connections" permissions are set to allow and the firewall is disabled.  According to this post this can also be caused by an IT Policy but I don't believe I have any IT policies because I'm not on a BES.

Here's my code for connecting:

      SocketConnection sock = (SocketConnection) Connector.open("Socket://<myURL>:850;deviceside=true");
sock.setSocketOption(SocketConnection.LINGER, 5);

I'm testing this on a Bold 9000 running OS 5.0.0.592
