Supporting multiple OS Versions

I would like to write once and support several different versions of the OS.  My understanding is that you need an older JDE/JDK version and that will be upwards compatible?  Is that true?  Are there other options?  I would like to post my app on a webserver and have users install OTA.  I seem to recall years ago it was possible to distribute a jad/jar and have the device convert it to a cod?  If I have to go the JDE/JDK route, is there a recommended version to base it on?

Re: Supporting multiple OS Versions

I've seen people with multiple IDE's complain about conflicts but if you just use the install to extract the files, AFAIK you

can just copies binaries to different directories without conflict. I've beenusing script for automated builds against 2 of 3

JDE's with no obvious problem. You probably want server side auto-detect too.

I do all my work on 4.0.2 by default but can make special versions as needed.
