Re: TCP connection problem

Hi,

What about your JDE version ???

Please Go to Edit > Preferences > Simulator > General

verify that  "Launch Mobile Data System Connection Service (MDS-CS) with simulator" is checked and

in "Device" specific simulator is selected.

Re: TCP connection problem

Check the EventLog to see which APN the OS is actually using when your code is attempting the connection. You should see entries like:

  net.rim.tunnel - STac-<APN>

  net.rim.tunnel - Open-<APN>

The OS might be using the wrong APN (e.g., WAP TCP APN).

Re: TCP connection problem

press alt-lglg to view the eventlogs.

if you want to dump it in a text file, connect it to your computer via usb and execute the following in the command prompt.

javaloader -usb eventlog > path/filename.txt

I get foll. in event log:

type:2 app:net.rim.tunnel dataSmiley Surprisedpen-blackberry.net

guid:0x3B91E1630F0745BC time: Wed Sep 16 18:22:11 2009  severity:0 type:2 app:net.rim.tunnel dataSmiley FrustratedTnc-00000000

guid:0x3B91E1630F0745BC time: Wed Sep 16 18:22:11 2009  severity:0 type:2 app:net.rim.tunnel data:Clos-blackberry.net

guid:0xE8C5006FD91C5EBD time: Wed Sep 16 18:22:12 2009  severity:0

Is this correct?

Also I would like to know that do I need to activate service book for socket connection. Right now im trying to connect to server using the SocketDemo code that comes with JDE samples, which is not working for me? Do I need to change any handset specific settings? I have set the permissions for the application as "Allow" for every coonnection setting.

Help me out, badly stucked....

Re: TCP connection problem

I dn't think it is related to any device settings, I feel its still the problem with teh SIM and Data plan. Have you got a chance to test it using some other carrier?

Use Search. "Accept Solution" If the problem is resolved.

Re: TCP connection problem

Is the SIM is taken specific to blackberry or just a normal connection. One try is with other Carrier.

Use Search. "Accept Solution" If the problem is resolved.

The log indicates that you are connecting to the tunnel blabkberry.net,  This is, I think the default APN, which indicates you are not specifying anything.  If you were connecting to videofone it would, almost certainly, say internet.

Can you confirm that you have specified your APN parameters in Options-->Advanced-->TCP.  If you have, can you tell us what you see there?

Note: There is nothing extra required to support socket connections.
