Re: Unable to capture GPS data in background application

It looks like your source code has been removed, so I am not able to comment on it.

Does your UIApplication also make use of the same TimerTask implementation?  What happens when it doesn't work?  Do you see any errors or exceptions?  How does the background application behave in the BlackBerry smartphone simulator?  Does it work correctly?  What BlackBerry Smartphone model and BlackBerry device software version are you testing on?  You can find this under Options, About on the BlackBerry Smartphone.

Note that Google Maps can function without a GPS fix.  Do you see coordinates under Options, (Advanced Options), GPS?

Re: Unable to capture GPS data in background application

I  have verified that collecting GPS data in a background application works fine in the emulator.

Re: Unable to capture GPS data in background application

It would help if you put some of the source code up.  I would run GPSDemo from the samples on the device to make sure your GPS is actually functional from a 3rd party app.   What device and who do you have service with.  Some devices on Verizon come with the GPS set to 911 only so unless that is changed the 3rd party app won't get a location.  You can also check the permissions of your app to make sure the app has permission to use location API calls.
