Web Services to connect to BlackBerry applications

What is the best method to connect to a web service in BlackBerry ?

Forgive me for being naive, but actually I am new to BlackBerry application development.

However, I have worked a lot on Android and knw how to make connections to web-services using SOAP, JSON or HTTPClient.

For BlackBerry, what would be the best option ? Any tutorial links would indeed be of awesome help!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Web Services to connect to BlackBerry applications

I would highly recommend the following two articles regarding Web services:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Different-ways-to-make-an-HTTP-or-socket-con...

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Specify-APN-information-for-a-direct-TCP-con...

If you are using EDGE for Direct TCP, you will need APN settings one way or the other. The first document outlines some other alternatives from Direct TCP (Carrier) and WiFi.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Web Services to connect to BlackBerry applications

json is supported since 6.0 in the api, beforehand you have to use a lib.
for soap you can use ksoap2 or stubs, depending on your needs.

you can search the forum for any of these keywords to find many posts about them.
