can I browse files on simulator?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have an app that creates files on blackberry, I have not got the device yet, is there a way I can see on simulator the files I created or failed? Thanks a lot!

Re: can I browse files on simulator?

Does your app store the files on the SD card (i.e. somewhere under file:///SDCard/*)? If it does you can use the Simulate -> Change SD Card command in the simulator to choose the folder on your PC that corresponds to the SD card. You can then view the files outside of the BB using whatever PC editors and utilities are at your disposal.

Re: can I browse files on simulator?

The above can be done only on versions 4.3+

If you are using 4.2, you have to write a utility to do that. ( Or use the filedemosample as mentioned above).

Re: can I browse files on simulator?

So can't you change it so that it uses the SD card when running on the simulator and the proper location when running on a real device (you'll presumably have a constant string or two defining the root anyway?). Use DeviceInfo.isSimulator() to determine if you're running on the simulator.
