getFriendlyName returns blank strings

Hey all, my bluetooth search returns the name of the devices on my 9900 but when i test on a 9700 it returns blank strings instead of the names. The code is as follows:

for (int b = 0; b < remoteDevices.size(); b++) {
					try {
						devicesList.addElement(((RemoteDevice) (remoteDevices
								.elementAt(b))).getFriendlyName(false));
						devicesListAddress
								.addElement(((RemoteDevice) (remoteDevices
										.elementAt(b))).getBluetoothAddress());
					} catch (IOException e) {

					}
				}

 i store the names in the first vector and the addresses in the second. It retrieves the addresses but not the names. Any thoughts?
