               How to do button image transparent?

a button never has an image, as the buttonfield class does not support this.
you can use an image as a button (functionality wise).
to add transparency you need an image format that supports it (png, gif etc).
you can modify the picture on the PC.
on the device you can use http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/7.1.0api/net/rim/device/api/ui/Graphics.html#setGlobalAlph... to control the alphachannel, but that is probably too low level for you?
