I want open a remote (from http link) video using javax.microedition.media.Manager.createPlayer(http://url); but it thrown exception javax.microedition.media.MediaException: unsupported content type - text/plain
am trying this on JDE 4.5 and simulator 8900
what may be the issue

AFAIK the player is supposed to work with audio and video media types hence the content type should be something like audio/amr, audio/basic, video... not text/plain.
Are you sure that the url you pass is a valid url to a video/audio?
It is also possible to that your media is corrupted.

I have a PDF describing the supported media types and here is what I have for Blackberry Curve 8900:
MP4 video is supported with codecs H.264(baseline profile, 480x360 pixels , up to 1500kbps, 24 fps), MPEG-4 480x360px, up to 1500kbps, 24fps, H.263 profile 0 and 3 , level 45 - RTSP streaming is supported
MP4 audio is supported with codecs AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC+ - RTSP supported
Do you by any chance can try opening the URL on an actual blackberry device?
