playing videos in a Form in a midlet on Blackberry....

[ Edited ]

Hi I try to port a J2ME (polish) midlet to BB.

This app plays videos which are held in a Container in a Form. For some reasons the video isnt shown correctly on Blackberrys (the sound works fine and in the BB MediaPlayer the video also looks good...).

When I implement the Player in an native BB UiApplication evrything works fine.

Is it possible that this problem occurs because I want to play the video in a Form?

Or what else may be the mistake?

Thanks in advance,

JJ

Hi, I found out that the problem had nothing to do with the container the video is shown in. The problem occurs only when I resize the video with VideoControl.setDisplaySize(width, height) and only if I change the WIDTH. as long as I change nothing or only the height of the video it looks good. but when I change its Width by more then a Pixel the video is displayed "wrong" (somehow askew...).

The error occurs when I use both USE_DIRECT_VIDEO or USE_GUI_PRIMITIVE...

Does anybody know this problem???

Thanks in advance

JJ

I'm totally shooting from the hip here, but have you tried widths that are multiples of 16? I've seen similar limitations in the past on other types of hardware.  You also might be limited to width / height combinations that match the original aspect ratio.  At least it's worth a try.

Hi,

thanks for your reply but I did both and it still doesnt work:-(

EDIT: wellll....it seems like you were, at least somehow, right. I noticed that I made a mistake when I tested the app with widths which are multiples of 16. I definitely see a difference now between the videos with such widths and those with random widths...it's less askew...but still not perfect...

Thanks for this hint! Now I have an idea where to start!
