Re: showNotify(), hideNotify()

What action(s) does your application take on start up?  What line of code is triggering the exception?

You can use the PhoneListener interface to listen for incoming calls.

Re: showNotify(), hideNotify()

showNotify() and hideNotify() are not implemented in UiApplication as long as I know, they are only for GameCanvas.

Re: showNotify(), hideNotify()

when a call is accepted the phone application requests foreground. your application will be notified that it is no longer displayed.
see Application deactivate() or the onUndisplay() in the ui classes.
using a phonelistener is another option as MSohm already said, but with the former you could also work on the usecase of the user changing the application using the task manager.
