wi-fi question

Is there a way to uniquely identify (for the security reasons) a BB with a wi-fi access point?

I couldn't find any BB API that exposes the bb wlan MAC. is this true?

I guess thats why the wlan mac is not stored in the config database. So I was wondering if there is another identifier (exposed by the bb api) which can be used to allow access to an enterprise wi-fi.

I too have been tirelessly searching for this as well.

I know it exists because I can see it on my phone. I just want to know how to read it in my function.

Searching on earlier threads, the closest I have come across is this (and it is really disappointing):

http://208.74.204.192/t5/Java-Development/Is-it-possible-to-get-Wifi-MAC-address-in-program/m-p/4530...

If anyone finds out if there is a similar method, could you please pass it on.

Thank you.

After some looking around on the API, I think that this might work equally well as an identifier:

http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/5.0.0api/net/rim/device/api/system/DeviceInfo.html#getDevi...()

Using getDeviceId() to get a unique identifier.

In my case, I don't necessarily need the MAC address, however it would have been more convenient. Hope this helps anyone.
