Adding x264 to project gives syntax/linker error

I have been trying all day to get working with ffmpeg again - I am able to link against libavutil, libavcodec, libavformat just fine following instructions from libffcamera sample. My problem is linking to x264 library from the sample.

When I try to add LIBS += -L../libx264/lib/qnx/armle-v7 -lx264 and INCLUDEPATH += ../libx264/include to .pro file and also   <asset path="libx264/lib/qnx/armle-v7/libx264.so">lib/libx264.so</asset> to bar-descriptor I get

libx264.so: file format not recognized; treating as linker script when compiling my project.

Anyone know whats going on?

Re: Adding x264 to project gives syntax/linker error

are you on windows?  did you check out libx264 binaries by any chance?  take a look at libx264.so and see what the file looks like.

I've run into a similar problem whereby windows doesn't support symlinks, and ends up creating the .so file as a small text file instead.
