BlackBerry 10.2 SDK Beta Available Now!

[ Edited ]

Back at BlackBerry Jam Americas in May, we talked about the BlackBerry 10.2 SDK that would be available in June. Well, it’s June and we now have brand new updates available for you to experiment and build with. These updates include additions to the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK  and both our Android and Adobe AIR run-times. We have also been up-streaming core HTML5 BlackBerry 10 support into Apache Cordova and it should be hitting an official Cordova PhoneGap release very soon!

The updates to the run-times...  Read the rest on the BlackBerry Developer Blog.

unfortunately it does not like my custom components, i have 31 errors in the qml (which is working fine). My ImageView extensions are not recognized, for example.

Re: BlackBerry 10.2 SDK Beta Available Now!

This looks really good! So far it runs great! One issue though on Ubuntu.... The 'Design View' button that lets you preview qml files is FINALLY clickable. But it never works. Any fix? Anyone else having this issue? I get a pretty unhelpful error:

"Problem loading qml file: Unable to render QML preview"

I am really hoping this is fixable, because this is the biggest feature and it has been completely missing from the Linux builds since the first few Beta SDKs. Thanks!

Testing...

OK

Adopt!

Now, simulator work fine. UI is beautiful, simple, and very intuitive.

Great work.

Re: BlackBerry 10.2 SDK Beta Available Now!

android support was updated to 4.2, qml preview won't work with advanced or custom components but you should have no issues in an empty project just used for ui design

Re: BlackBerry 10.2 SDK Beta Available Now!

I'm on windows and using a straight forward QML (No Custom). And I also get "Problem loading qml file: Unable to render QML preview"

Re: BlackBerry 10.2 SDK Beta Available Now!

From the release notes:

  • Using older drivers with QML preview

Any drivers that are more than 12 months old are unsupported. Using unsupported drivers can lead to issues with rendering, such as, complete disabling of the QML preview feature. The user will also be notified about this situation by a dialog box within the QNX Momentics IDE for BlackBerry.
Workaround: Update to the latest drivers. This issue might occur even with newer graphics cards and the latest drivers. In this case, you should report this issue to BlackBerry developer support with as much detail as possible. You can report to the support community forums. For more information, check out the QML preview troubleshooting documentation.
