BlackBerry 10 – The Evolution from Beta to Gold

Tim Neil has authored a great blog post on the future of the BlackBerry 10 betas and upcoming APIs.  Have a look...

Re: BlackBerry 10 – The Evolution from Beta to Gold

Very confusing. It says that all the SDKs are evolving. Does this really mean that all the items listed to be included in the development SDKs, or just NDK?

It says that it is not ready for 3rd party consumption yet, so when will they be ready? There are rumors that new SDKs will be made in the next couple of weeks (along with Dev Alpha update), will they be there? If not, when?

Thanks for some heads up.

Re: BlackBerry 10 – The Evolution from Beta to Gold

It'll be a mix.

The Native APIs are the foundation for everything, so you'll see new APIs appear there first.  In some cases they may also appear in parallel with WebWorks and AIR.  If not they'll be prioritized based on developer demand.  Note that this doesn't mean that every native API will have a WebWorks/AIR equivalanet.  You also have the option of native extensions for these runtimes, so you could use that route for any native API.

On the Android side our focus is on compatibility with existing applications and APIs.

As for when they'll be ready, all I can say is keep an eye on the blog or here in the forum for announcements.
