Blackberry bridge and playbook functions

So far from what I've read is that there is no api for bridge connections, and as far as I have seen, most threads for this have been lost/dead for a year or two at least.

I know internet connections are handled automatically at OS level via bridge, but what about phone calls/sms/bbms?

I have been trying to work with an android tablet to make a sort of all in one app for music, phone, sms, emails but it involves writing a whole bluetooth manager from scratch, and even then, phone functions may not work. So I'm doing some research into the playbook. I've had it for some time, and enjoy the functions it has when connected to my bb 9900. It has been updated to 2.1, and phone is on os10.

Is there anything I can do to incorporate phone functions into my app? Even if it means polling the bridge to detect a call or sms/etc and handling it manually from there.

Any info would be appreciated.
