Call for feedback on Sensor APIs

[ Edited ]

Hey Team,

Many of you are already using sensors in many innovative ways. We are in that cycle of our development again where we gather your feedback on the current Sensor APIs. If you have answers to questions like what do you think is really good, what is bad, what do you want to see in the future, please chime in by Monday October 7th 2013 with as much details around your use cases as you possibly can. Cascades, Qt, Core Native - whatever you might be using to build your app, we would like to hear your requests.

Re: Call for feedback on Sensor APIs

Great initiative!

All thats missing here is some details what you are talking about Smiley Wink
Is this for the Qt5 APIs?

Anything new you think would be wonderful for people to use?

What about linking to blogs that introduce those new APIs?

Last, it would be really good to have your feedback period include at least one weekend so those that can't fit it in their work hours have an opportunity to comment too.

Re: Call for feedback on Sensor APIs

This is for all sensor APIs. We are open to anything you've got that might help improve the platform in a way that will serve your use cases better.

sensor_info_get_power(sensor_info_t *info)

My readings from the PlayBook and DAC have 0.0000 and -1.0000.

What does that mean?

Now deprecated.  Why?  Also, I never understood how to use it.

Re: Call for feedback on Sensor APIs

I would like to have an easier API to combine ImageRotation with Compass heading

also combination of RotationSensor and MapView Tilt should be easier

AND all of this should should automatically detect orientation of the device.

(recently noticed that CustomMap tilt works well in Portrait, but not if opened in Landscape - and it's not so easy to figure out the corresponding values)

also if using Camera sometimes not easy to handle the orientation
