Call functions from Label Text

I have a text that contains usernames ("@username") and hastags ("#hashtag") and I want to execute a function when one is clicked, like Twitter when you click a username it opens the profile page.

Currently I am splitting the text to another Label every time a username or hastag is found and adding a tap handler.

Is there another way to accomplish it?

Re: Call functions from Label Text

Hello Gaspertrix,

I generally use the following code to achieve this:

onTouch:{

if(event.isUp()) {

console.log("Label is clicked !!")

}

}

Let me know if it works for you also !!

Re: Call functions from Label Text

You are better off using a tap handler for this, so it doesn't accidentally trigger during things like scrolls.

Label
{
    text:"Your Text"

    gestureHandlers:
    [
        TapHandler
        {
            onTapped:
            {
                //custom javascript here
            }
        }
     ]
}

Re: Call functions from Label Text

Are you trying to let the user invoke Twitter itself, or have your own custom behaviour?

You can take a look at the ActiveTextHander: https://developer.blackberry.com/native/reference/cascades/bb__cascades__activetexthandler.html
