Im afraid this didnt solve the problem.

Why is kde causing problems with  blackberry Qt apps, but not when I write a regular (non blackberry) Qt app?

Seems like blackberry (Cascades or the controller) is creating this dependency (directly or indirectly) on "oxygen".

I can create Qt apps on the same development machine (eg for Nokia devices) without any such issues.
