Carrier OS vs Dev Alpha OS - is there any difference for developers?

Does it make any difference what version is used for development? These here:

https://developer.blackberry.com/blackberry10devalpha/devalpha_update.html

or the ones that are carrier specific?

Also it is great that there are these autoloaders because BlackBerry Link doesn't always work when trying to restore the OS. Specifically this one:

  • 0015 – A fatal file system error was encountered.

That I was able to experience with the previous BB 10.2.0.1157

The dev alpha os was designed for the dev alphas and is quite similar to the offcial os only that it lacks all the default apps to encourage developers to create apps instead of play around with ones BlackBerry has already made.

The carrier os, is just an update that is downloaded that adds radio support etc, but I belive that is dependant on the sim card thats inserted in your device.

But you can use the autoloaders to install that OS on production device. My question is if there is any debug code or anything else that is better suited to development or there isn't any difference.
