Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

What if I told you that you no longer have to worry about backing up your BlackBerry 10 code signing keys, forgetting your signing password, remembering which computer you had your keys installed on, or waiting for signing keys to be emailed to you..?

so to do this do we run command promt and paste

blackberry-signer -linkcsk –bbidtoken <BBID Token CSK filename>
-oldcskpass <Legacy CSK password> –bbidcskpass <BBID Token CSK password>

when replacing <BBID Token CSK filename> etc do we keep the <>

examples: <bbidtoken.csk> <oldpassword> <newPassword>

I ask this because I don't compile using the command prompt and the instructions are written assuming everyone does

Re: Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

The parts in <brackets> you replace with your own information.  Also make sure you store the BlackBerry ID token in the appropriate place for your OS as described on the download page.

  • Windows® XP:  %HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion
  • Windows Vista®, Windows 7® and Windows 8®:  %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\Research In Motion
  • Mac OS:  ~/Library/Research In Motion
  • Unix / Linux:  ~/.rim

Re: Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

Try typing it out instead of pasting (if that is what you are doing).  If an “En Dash” character (Unicode U+2013) is used instead of the “Hyphen-Minus” (Unicode U+002D). The “Hyphen-Minus” is normally the character that appears when you press the “minus” key on your keyboard, but when copying from a browser you could get "En Dash".

Re: Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

Instead of %HOMEPATH%, try substituting what it resolves to. Example:  c:\Users\username

yes, i tried that before I even posted on here

also i'm running cmd in both administrator & non and also tried running it with the csk folder as the root directory in cmd

if i try just running blackberry-signer it says it's not a recognized interal or external command (not sure if thats what it should say)

Re: Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

really wondering why this link-my-bbid-token-with-existing-signing-keys is not built into the IDE

having a wizard there would make it easier

Re: Code Signing Keys Be Gone! Welcome BlackBerry ID

Don't know why but updated Momentics to latest version and when trying to run this command it just says:

"Error: -cskpass must be specified"

OS X (which is usually the best dev platform for BB10 Smiley Wink)
