ContactId - best practices - HowTo map custom IDs

as I understand it right from here:

https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/reference/bb__pim__contacts__contact.html#id

a ContactId is a (local-to-the-device-) unique ID

(if the Contact is merged from multiple sources there can even be a list of source contact IDs)

in one of my applications I'm using Contacts for Ordermanagment

in the order - data I want to reduce amount of traffic and so I'm re-using addresses etc from the Contact

my question is HowTo map something like a CustomerId over all BB10 devices to get the right Contact

my idea is to persist this CustomerId inside an unused field (per ex. Pager or inside Notes)

am I right that I cannot create any custom fields to Contacts - I can only use existing ones ?

...just starting to integrate and use Contacts
