Custom List item does not show default tap and long tap UI effect.

I have a list item that has an image, text 1, text 2 and status. I can use Standard List Item to display this and get the default tap and long tap UI effect. But the status in my list item is a image rather then text.

I tried the following things:

1. Created my own custom listItem that is exactly like StandardListItem but shows status as an image instead of text. But with this I am not able to get the default UI effect.

2. I created a container and placed StatndardListItem and an ImageView(showing status image) inside this container. With this approach, when I touch an item in the list, it just goes blue and never comes back to original color.

Can anybody provide any suggestions on how can I achieve this?
