Does anyone know of a way of detecting when the hub has been opened?
I know this is possible somehow as I've seen apps that can do this. I don't know whether there is an api for this or possible a signal of some sort that can be used to detect this.
Purhaps if I can determine the foreground application I would be able to determine if the hub has been opened.

I might be going about what I'd like to do using the wrong approach.
Let me clearify what I'd like to accomplish. I am interested in developing an app to set the Led flashing for a specfic event that may occur, such as an incoming email from work. I want to call the Led cancel() to turn off the flashing if the user opens the hub.
This can be done as there are numerous apps on the app world for bb10 that are already doing this. The Led flashing is turned off once the hub is opened. As I don't see anything in the Led class other than flash count and cancel() for controlling when the Led is turned off then I assume some signal is being captured when the hub is opened to trigger turning off the Led.

The apps in question are not detecting the hub being opened and reacting to it.
The hub itself is telling the notification service to cancel the flashing LED when it is opened.
