Dev Alpha device in coma :(

Hello,

I'm having trouble booting up my Dev Alpha device. The screen stays black. The red light next to the camera flashes in a pattern of 1 followed by 6 short flashes. Any idea what this means?

Regards, Marcel Nijman

Re: Dev Alpha device in coma :(

You'll have to repair the OS using Desktop Software. Follow the guide in this link. https://developer.blackberry.com/blackberry10devalphas/update

Re: Dev Alpha device in coma :(

The restore finished with "The device is ready". After disconnecting, no response. After re-connecting, a green flashing light, and the Desktop Software says "Software Version 0.0".

Re: Dev Alpha device in coma :(

With the Dev Alpha, if you are getting those flashing lights and it's plugged in, just try unplugging it briefly, for about a second or two. It will probably start booting up fairly quickly, and then you can plug it back in.

I think it's just a wee bug that it (sometimes? always?) will not boot up when it's plugged in, but even a brief unplug seems to do the trick every time here.

I've had the 1/6 flash pattern many times lately and that's always worked for me so far.

Re: Dev Alpha device in coma :(

@iamjay: a device restore through Desktop Software did the trick, thanks!

@peter9477: I saw the same thing twice today, but probably because the battery was at 0% it showed only the initial screen and then shut down before I could plug it in (and I was standing *next* to a wall socket!).
