Develop Video Streaming App

Hi, I'm developing video streaming app,

What is the best way to do this(video streaming)

Right now I'm using MediaPlayer, but with it I think I must create the UI by my self

Is there another way to do this? Like ready to use player (already have play/pause button, slider, volume, and full screen button)

I'm try to embed using video tag to html -> using WebView, but there is error message that my type of video not supported (using HLS for streaming)

Thanks

Re: Develop Video Streaming App

In C you can use mm-renderer API:
http://developer.blackberry.com/native/documentation/bb10/multimedia.html

In C++ you can use Cascades MediaPlayer class or write you r own class wrapping mm-renderer functions.

Re: Develop Video Streaming App

Have you tried the invocation layer to invoke the media player?

Video tags within a webview currently are not supported.

Re: Develop Video Streaming App

Hi @Kaz32,

All three 3 options discussed here should be possible for you, to do video streaming in your app. Starting with 10.1, the HTML5 video tag is also supported for the Cascades WebView component (so that should work too).

But note that if you need to decrypt the HLS URL in your native app, the C mm-renderer API is the only option at the moment.

Cheers,
Rashid
