Does BB10 need NFC security sim card for NFC functionalities?

Hi, A dummy question. I want to try to write a small test app on BB10 to try if NFC read tag, send APDU command is working. does my BB10 need to have a SIM card installed, if yes, does the SIM card need to be NFC securetap sim card?

Hi,

In relation to NFC, you only need a SIM card if you want to have card emulation running in the SIM's secure element.

If your requirement is sending APDU between your application and an external peer - with no secure element involvement - you can go ahead without.

Thanks.

Thanks! If I don't even have a SIM card on BB10, can I still use the NFC functionalities to read tag, write tag, do communications without security messages?

That's right.

You get all the functionality minus secure element capbilities.
