File browser: How do I access it?

Hi,

I'm currently trying to give the user the ability to select an image from a File Browser in order to manipulate the image later on. However, I can't for the life of me find how to open a File Browser!

Has anyone got an idea of how to do this?

Thanks,

Connor

Re: File browser: How do I access it?

I hope you have seen the 'filepicker' sample app in https://github.com/blackberry/Cascades-Samples

It gives a fairly gud illustration on how to implement a file browser.

Re: File browser: How do I access it?

I've just had a look at that example and whilst it looks good, I'm not using Cascades, just basic Native C/C++ code.

Any other examples I don't know about?

The FilePicker API does let you implement it even without the Cascades framework, i believe. See the C++ implementation over here... https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/reference/bb__cascades__pickers__filepicker.html One additional point, i think that is missed out over there is to refer the Library in your .pro file LIBS += -lbbcascadespickers Also, be careful to set the permission in your bar-descriptor.xml file if you are using any of the shared folder via your browser.( I had spent a long time.. trying to figure this out..)

Hi,

That's excellent, looks like its just the thing for what I needed! However, the .pro file you mention, where and what is it?

Thanks,

Connor

Re: File browser: How do I access it?

A .pro file is the Project file that is created by the same name in the workspace of your project.

FilePicker: What about choosing folders/directories?

Is there a way to restrict the FilePicker so it only lets the user choose a directory?

Or is there a DirPicker somewhere?
