I am working on an online radio application and am very disappointed to see that the BB 10.1
simulator (10.1.0.1483) does not support the HTTP live streaming of M3U (MP3) media files.
I am getting the following message in the device log:
MediaPlayer:: prepare::Error attaching input source. url: "http://abc.xyzxyz.com:9156/stream",
and also when trying to browse to the URL in the browser of the simulator:
The media file is of and unsupported type or could not be loaded. It cannot be played.
I'd like to know whether the BB simulator 10.2 supports HTTP live streaming of MP3 files, or do I need to buy an actual device?

Apologies for the delayed response. Unfortunately, for the OS versions in the market so far, the multimedia playback support on the simulator is very limited. This is mainly due to licensing issues of the codecs required. There is very limited support for audio playback (uncompressed audio only, WAV files) and no video playback. In later simulator OS releases, we might have software decoding - if that happens, your use case would be met then.
