How to make an application that can be accessed by other application?

Hi,

I want to make an application which can be used anywhere like we were able to do using Applicationmenuitem in earlier version of BB. Using applicationmenuitem,we were able to call that application's functions. I want to do somewhat like that, how is it possible in cascades?

For invocation check this -

http://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/device_platform/invocation/index.html

Core Application Invocation -

http://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/device_platform/invocation/invoking_core_apps...

You can also have menus for these -

http://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/device_platform/invocation/menus.html

EDIT :: Invocation os Native SMS App -

Re: How to make an application that can be accessed by other application?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I know about the invocation but I don't want to invoke native apps from my app but want to invoke my app from native app.

Re: How to make an application that can be accessed by other application?

The invocation framework is the way to do this today.  Your application can register to handle a certain type of file (mime type or extension) and then can be an option to the user when they try to open that type of content from another application.

There is no way to inject specific menu items like  you could with ApplicationMenuItem.

Any idea of the mime-type to use for VCF format from a contacts app so I can choose to open the contact in my app using invocation framework
